The purpose of the first CHIST-ERA Conference will be to bring together personalities and scientists from the community of the call topics preliminarily chosen by the CHIST-ERA Consortium and that will be called for in the first CHIST-ERA transnational call for projects.

The expected audience will be a balanced combination of CHIST-ERA partner programme representatives (Executive Board and/or Steering Committee members) and leading experts from science, industry, and other stakeholders, in order to identify and formulate promising scientific & technological challenges in the topics chosen.

The outcome of the conference will be used by the CHIST-ERA Steering Committee for defining more precisely the content of the transnational call. The first two topics to be addressed in this conference are:

  • Quantum Information Foundations and Technologies
  • Self-Awareness & Self-Consciousness

Ricardo Sanz will give a talk on the self-awareness topic, focusing on the trends towards full cognitive autonomy in technical systems and the cross-domain research needed for that.

Updated information can be found in the CHIST-ERA Conference Website.

CHIST-ERA is an ERA-NET action funded by the European Commission which aims at developing long term coordination and cooperation of the research funding agencies in order to reinforce the transnational collaboration between member states in challenging multidisciplinary research in the area of information & communication sciences and technologies with the potential to lead to significant breakthroughs with the European Commission within the ERA-NET scheme of the Seventh Research and Technological Development Framework Programme.
