Friday 27th, Jaime Gómez, will give the seminar To cognize is to categorize: Cognition theory could be Category theory like. The weak or psychological vision of categories is overcome by a strong-algebraic one. Paraphrasing the seminal paper of S. Harnad that points out the indispensable role played by categories in cognition, the talk introduces category theory as a relevant tool to deal with the structure of cognition. Category theory is proposed as an useful methodological tool for building a theory of cognition. This talk can be downloaded from here. The talk will focus on the use of Category theory as an useful methodological tool for building a theory of cognition.
