European Conference on Complex Systems Print E-mail
Written by Jaime Gómez
Tuesday, 14 September 2010

The science of complexity tackles new kind of problems that can not be solved by conventional methods. This situation has arisen because now we find systems that are much more connected that they were before. Complex systems consist of a number of elements, strongly coupled between them and with highly non-linear dynamics.

The 16th September 2010, Jaime Gómez Ramírez will be in the ECCS’10 European Conference on Complex Systems in Lisbon, Portugal, presenting Hippocampal Categories: a mathematical foundation for navigation and memory. The poster can be downloaded here.

At the core of this work is the idea that using mathematics like category theory, combined with other methodologies of Complexity sciences, a more effective and fruitful approach in the unveiling of meaningful patterns in complex systems -i.e: the brain, will be possible.
